THE LATE PETER BUGGY

The death occurred (peacefully) on May 18 at the Midlands Regional Hospital, Portlaoise of Peter Buggy, Ballycoolan, Stradbally. Beloved husband of Helen, loving and devoted father to Noel, Olive, Julie and Brigid. Sadly missed by his loving family wife Helen, son, daughters, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, relatives, neighbours and all his friends.

Peter’s remains were reposing at his home, until removal on Wednesday morning to the Sacred Heart Church, Stradbally for Requiem Mass at 11am.

Burial took place in Oakvale Cemetery, Stradbally.

COMMUNITY GAMES

Stradbally area athletic finals take place in the Lawn, Stradbally on Friday evening, May 30 for long puck, ball throws, long jump etc at 7pm, registration from 6.30am.

Athletics track events will take place on Saturday, May 31 at 2pm sharp. Registration 1.30pm sprints and distance races for boys and girls u8, u10, u12, u14 and u16. Anyone interested in competing in the county finals of swimming on June 7 please contact Kathleen Sheridan 086 081 5674. The county finals of Track and Field athletics (including cross country) take place on Sunday, June 15 in St Abbans.

COMMUNION

34 children made their First Holy Communion in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Stradbally on Saturday, May 17 last. They were: Aaron Foley, Adam Hennessy, Aidan Donaghy, Alami O’Reilly, Alisha Lawless, Anthony Skelly, Ava Foley, Ben Dillon, Ben Morrissey, Blaine Corcoran, Bryan King, Cara Lalor, Conor Whearty, Daniel Donohue, David Miller, Ellen Deegan, Emma Tuohy, Evan Bergin, Fionn McEvoy-Mullally, Gavin Moran, Jack Luttrell, Jake Darcy, James Devoy, Katie Donoghue, Kevin Fennelly, Kirsten White, Liam McDonald, Lucy Kerrigan, Luke Buggy Doheny, Mark Little, Natasha Hynes, Poppy Mullen, Ronan Creery and Ross Molloy.

WHIST DRIVE

Winners of the whist held on Friday, May 16 in aid of the young people going to Zambia from The Glebe, Stradbally were: top score Mick Nolan, 1st lady Willie Wallace, 2nd lady Birdie Langton, 1st gent Tom Kearns, 2nd gent John Harrison, 1st half Peter Stephenson, 2nd half Gerry Kealey, lowest score Sylvia Wilkinson, hatching Kay Chase, Matt Barrett, Tom Finn and Cora Moore. ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

Stradbally parish gaels are holding their annual fundraiser walk this year on Thursday, May 29 at 7.30pm. It will be held in Oakvale Woods this year with two circuits. One for 4km and for the more seasoned walker-runner there is a 6km circuit.

FLOWER GARDEN CLUB

There are some seats available for the World Flower Show to be held in the RDS on June 20. (Bus, admission ticket and evening meal) Please contact any member of the committee.

VICARSTOWN ACTIVE RECREATIONAL GROUP

The annual outing will take place to Ballymascanlon House Hotel, Carlingford, on July 27. Cost €170, dinner and B&B for two nights. Phone 0578626158.

T&S UNITED AGM

T&S United will hold their annual general meeting and awards night on Friday, May 30 in Timahoe Community Hall at 8.45pm sharp. All welcome and we encourage any new player and their parents to come along on the night if you would like to sign for the 2014-15 season. If we have the players we will start with teams in u8 up to u15.
