The death occurred on May 30 of Iris Munro (nee Allison), The Glebe, Stradbally, and formerly of Dundrum and Cahir, Co. Tipperary, peacefully, at the Mater Private Hospital, Dublin. Iris, predeceased by her husband John, much loved mother to Robert (Mike), Ann and Peter, mother-in-law to Cora, Alan and the late Patricia, cherished grandmother to Shane and Allison (Austrialia), Haemish, Rebecca and Alec. Her remains were reposing at her son Peter’s residence in Ballykilcavan, Stradbally and following funeral service on Thursday at St Mary’s Church, Dundrum, Co. Tipperary burial took place afterwards in the adjoining churchyard.


St Colmans National School and parents council will host an information evening for parents on the topic of internet safety on Thursday June 19 at 7pm. Guest speaker will be forensic psychologist Dr Maureen Griffin. Admission is free, however a small donation on the night to help cover the cost of the evening would be appreciated.


The annual awards night will take place in the Napper Tandys on Saturday, June 21 with thanks again to Brendan Lynch for hosting the night. Our senior awards are for player, young player and top goalscorer while our u19s will also have player of the season and top goalscorer trophies presented. Wexford group ‘Wrecking Ball’ wll be performing on the night, complementary food will be served and there’s a host of prizes to be won in our raffle on the night including signed jersies and footballs. Always a great nights entertainment, be sure to get along and support your local club on June 21 and enjoy a great night out as well.

The girls U12 gaelic footballers coached by Zandra Horgan bowed out to Kinnegad - Coralstown in the Leinster semi-final in Kinnegad. The team were Aoibhe Brennan, Ellen Dunne, Ellen Hennessy, Ellen Deegan, Laura Miller, Jessica Hewitt, Sarah Tohey, Orla Knowels, Heather Bennett, Andrea Robinson, Anna Crean, Clare Carroll and Grace Miller. The U12 draughts team were narrowly beaten in the first round of the Leinsters. Darragh Maher Kelly, David Fennelly, Pauric Ryan, Paddy Corcoran and Jack Fennelly. Thanks to team coach John Fennelly.

Congratulations to the U14 table quiz team Conor Corcoran, William Oxley, Heather Crean, Jordan Whelan, Sean Lewis and Conor Donnolan, winners of the county final in O’Dempseys. Thanks to team coach Breda Oxley.

The mini rugby team play Offaly in the Leinster quarter final in the lawn on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Presentation of art medals for 2013 and 2014 will take place in St Pats on June 25 at 7pm. The county finals of track and field athletics will take place on Sunday June 15 in St Abbens.
