THE LATE ELIZABETH (CISSIE) KINSELLA

The death occurred on Friday, June 13, peacefully at The Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise of Elizabeth (Cissie) Kinsella, Tullamoy, Stradbally.

Her remains were reposing at her home until removal to Saint Joseph’s Church Ballyadams on Monday and following funeral mass burial took place afterwards in St Joseph’s Cemetery Ballyadams.

STRADBALLY DISTRICT ANGLERS

A meeting of the Stradbally and District Anglers will be held in St Mary’s Hall on Monday, June 30 commencing at 8pm sharp and all concerned are requested to attend.

Walks FEstival

Stradbally hosts a number of events during the Laois Walking Festival from July1-31.

Stradbally hosts a 5km Family walk on Friday, July 4 from Stradbally Lake out the Charter way. Meet at the Market House at 7.30pm.

Walk on the Rock of Dunamaise on Saturday, July 12 at 7.30pm This a grade B 9km walk. Meet at the Rock of Dunamaise car park.

Oakvale Woods on Sunday, July 13 on the Cobblers Walk. Meet at the woods 7.30pm. 8km two hour grade B walk.

The Fesitval also features events in Ballybrittas, Timahoe, Emo as well as several walks around the county from Durrow to the Slieve Blooms.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH CCOLLECTION

A church gate collection for the Neighbourhood Watch will be taken up at all masses in Stradbally on the weekend of Saturday and Sunda, July 12 and 13. Please support.

CEMETERY MASSES FOR STRADBALL

Cemetary masses will be held in Vicarstown on Wednesday, June 25, 7.30pm, Oakvale Stradbally on Thursday, June 26 7.30pm, Timahoe on Friday, June 27 at 7.30pm, and in Clopook on Thursday, July 3 at 7.30pm.

BUS TO CLONFERT

A bus to Clonfert for a day of prayer and healing will be going on Saturday, June 28 leaving Stradbally at 8.30am. Phone Eileen 0598625215/25902 for more details.

LATE BRIGID MURRAY

The death occurred on Friday, June 13 of Brigid Murray (nee Tuts Kelly), Knockdrumagh, Myshall, Carlow and formerly of Kilteale, Stradbally.

Beloved wife of the late Paddy, she is survived by her daughter Mary, sons Martin, Jimmy and Patsy and deepest sympathy is also extended to her brothers Ted (Athy Road, Stradbally), Paddy (Kilteale, Stradbally) and Anne (The Heath) and her extended family.

STEAM TRAINS

The Irish Steam Preservation Society’s steam trail Stradbally Woodland Express will have full steam up and running in The Lawn on Sunday, June 29 from 1pm until 4pm. Fare adults €6 and children €2.

Entrance to the railway from Main St, Stradbally.

The Stradbally Steam Museum nearby will be open when the steam train is running.

MEDLEY DAY

A reminder that this year’s Medley Day in Timahoe will be held on Sunday, June 29. A day’s outing for all the family, not to be missed.

The highlight of the day will be the visit of the Laois Rose of Tralee Teresa Brennan to judge the annual fancy dress competition for the kids.

SUMMER ARTS

The Arts Office, Laois County Council summer arts workshops in Stradbally at the Laois Arthouse on Tuesday, July 29 to Thursday, July 31 with artist Caroline Keane.

Active recreational Walking from the bridge every Wednesday evening at 7.30pm.

FAMILY SUPPORT FUND

The Ciarán Treacy Family Support Fund has been formed by the communities of Portarlington and Stradbally. Lots of events taking place in the next ten weeks.
