Stradbally Family Fair and National Hound Show is delighted to announce that the annual show will return to the wonderful environs of Stradbally Hall by kind permission of the Cosby Family, Stradbally on Sunday, July 6 next. The hound show has attracted large numbers and over the last few years it has been extended to include even more by offering a wide variety of exhibitions and entertainment.

STEAM RALLY PHOTO EXHIBITION

This year we celebrate our 50th steam rally. The rally committee are holding a photo exhibition on the August weekend in the Arthouse. We are appealing to the local people who may have photos of steam engines, steam trains, people taken at the rally over the years or any memorabilia i.e. Programmes, tickets, etc from past rallies to display them in the exhibition. Your photo can be copied by us so you hold on to your original. For details contact Tony Fenlon 087-9911219 affter 4pm any evening.

WALKING ON THE ROCK OF DUNAMAISE

As part of the Laois Walking Festival this year a walk will be held on the Rock of Dunamaise and will take place on Sunday, July 12 at 7.30pm and will take two hours. This a grade B 9km walk. The meeting point for the walk is the Rock of Dunamaise car park and all are welcome to come along on the day.

Also Oakvale Woods on Sunday, July 13 on the Cobblers Walk. Meet at the woods 7.30pm. 8km two hour grade B walk.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

A church gate collection for the Neighbourhood Watch will be taken up at all masses in Stradbally on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13. Please support.

WHIST DRIVE

The results of the whist drive held in St Patrick’s Hall on June 20 are as follows: Top score Teresa Grufferty, 1st lady Kit Farrell, 2nd lady Lily Pearson, 1st gent Mick Foy, 2nd gent Leslie Hunter,1st half Billy Ransome, 2nd half Teresa Mulhare and Tom Finn, lowest score Peter Stevenson, hatching Willie Wallace. Raffles Mick Foy, Charlotte Glynn, Sean Langton and Etta Craig. Next whist drive will be held on Friday, July 18.

TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz in aid of the Stradbally GAA training fund will be held in the Napper Tandy, Stradbally on Saturday, July 12 commencing at 9pm sharp. Table of 4, €40. To book a table call Podge 087 9220993, Colm 086 8582069 and Greg 086 3188634. Your support would be much appreciated.

STRADBALLY JUVENILE ANGLING CLUB

A day’s outing for juveniles and members will be held on Saturday, July 5 at the Lake from 12 noon onwards. Refreshments will be served.

SYMPATHY

Deepest sympathy is extended to Paul Delaney, Ballymanus, Stradbally on the death of his mother Terrie (Teresa) Delaney, who was interred in Portlaoise on Thursday last.

MISSIONERY SISTERS OF ST PETER CLAVER

The Missionery Sisters of St Peter Claver will be here next weekend, Saturday and Sunday, July 5 and 6 in the Church of the Sacred Heart and will speak at all masses about their work for the missions. Your spiritual and financial assistance will be greatly appreciated. There will be a collection to help the sisters in their work.
