ELECTRIC PICNIC ONE DAY LOCAL RESIDENTS TICKETS

The dates and times for local residents to apply for one day residents tickets are as follows in St Mary’s Hall. Friday evening, July 11 from 7.30pm-9pm and Saturday morning, July 12 from 10.30am till 12 noon.

STRADBALLY TOWN AFC AGM

The club’s annual general meeting was held last Monday night last, June 30. Chairman James Buggy, secretary Alan Wright and treasurer Matthew Kelly gave comprehensive reports in each of they’re sectors. Following on from that the following officers have been elected for the coming 2014/15 season: chairman James Buggy, vice-chairman Paul Colton, secretary Alan Wright, treasurer Matthew Kelly, PRO JP Cushen committee Patrick Robbins, Daithi Mulhall, Ian Whelan, Paul Colton, Ger Byrne and Ross McAleer.

STRADBALLY TOWN AFC ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

The Stradbally Town AFC annual golf classic takes place on the Heath Golf Course on Friday, August 1. It will be played in a three ball scramble format and a team of three players is €90 with prizes for GUI and Non GUI players. Refreshments, finger food and prizes to be presented later that evening. SUNFLOWER DAY

Laois Hospice Foundation Ltd would like to thank all who donated to their recent Sunflower Day collection. A big thank you to all who collected on the day. All monies collected stay in Laois. Total raised €1115.

THE LATE BETTY CONROY

The death occurred on Monday, June 30 peacefully at St Vincent’s Hospital, Mountmellick of Betty Conroy, Cool Glass, Wolfhill. Sadly missed by her sister, Josie, Drogheda, and her nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. He remains were reposing at the Presentation Chapel, Stradbally with removal on Tuesday evening to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Luggacurran and followiing funeral mass on Wednesday her remains were interred in Clopook Cemetery.

COFFEE MORNING

Bubbles for Ciaran, Saturday, July 12 from 12-3pm in Stradbally GAA are hosting a coffee morning, cake and book sale in GAA Clubhouse. All proceeds for Ciaran Fund. Contact Hazel 087 7913384, Ros 086 2247704. Anyone wishing to donate goods can do so between 10am-12 noon on the day.

FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB

Members of Stradbally Flower & Garden Club had a wonderful day out at the World Show in the RDS Dublin and have now taken a summer break and will resume activities on Wednesday, September 3.

STEAM RALLY PHOTO EXHIBITION

This year we celebrate our 50th Steam Rally. The committee are holding a photo exhibition on the August weekend in the Arthouse. We are appealing to the local people who may have photos of steam engines, steam trains, people taken at the rally over the years or any memorabilia i.e. For details contact Tony Fenlon 087 9911219 affter 4pm.

WALKING ON THE ROCK OF DUNAMAISE

As part of the Laois Walking Festival this year a walk will be held on the Rock of Dunamaise and will take place on Sunday, July 12 at 7.30pm and will take 2 hours. This a grade B 9km walk. The meeting point for the walk is the Rock of Dunamaise car park and all are welcome.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH CHURCH GATE COLLECTION

A church gate collection for the Neighbourhood Watch will be taken up at all masses in Stradbally on the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, July 12 and 13.

WHIST DRIVE

Next whist drive will be held in St Patrick’s Hall on Friday, July 18.

TABLE QUIZ

A table quiz in aid of the Stradbally GAA training fund will be held in the Napper Tandy, Stradbally on Saturday, July 12 commencing at 9pm sharp. Table of 4 €40. To book a table call Podge 087 9220993, Colm 086 8582069 and Greg 086 3188634.
