STEAM RALLY PHOTO EXHIBITION
This year we celebrate our 50th Steam Rally. The committee are holding a photo exhibition on the August weekend in the Arthouse. We are appealing to the local people who may have photos of steam engines, steam trains, people taken at the rally over the years or any memorabilia, to display them in the exhibition. FINALLY MRS BROWN’S GIRLS RECEIVE THEIR MEDAL
Stradbally Community Games drama group received their bronze All Ireland medal from the national secretary of community games Jude Feehan in the Killeshin hotel last Monday. They performed a sketch Mrs Brown’s Hair representing Laois at last year’s finals in Athlone and got third place but disqualified in error.
STRADBALLY TOWN AFC ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

BUS TO CLONFERT

STRADBALLY ANGLING CLUB
A great day was had at Stradbally Lake on Saturday last by 40 juveniles and their mentors. The fishing was good and all juveniles landed four fish each. All juveniles received a tokan given to them by Stradbally anglers which were presented by youth officer and vice chairman Willie Rowe, and John Flynn from IFI. We would like to thank the Lake Board for use of the lake for the day.
FLOWER AND GARDEN CLUB
Members of Stradbally Flower & Garden Club have now taken a summer break and will resume activities on Wednesday, September 3 in St Josephs Hall.
Next whist drive will be held in St Patrick’s Hall on Friday, July 18.
The Arts Office, Laois County Council summer arts workshops in Stradbally at the Laois Arthouse on Tuesday, July 29 to Thursday, July 31 with artist Caroline Keane.
Wolfhill on Thursday, July 10, St Josephs Ballyadams on Wednesday, July 16 and in Rathaspic on Thusday, July 24 all at 7.30pm.
Sunday August 31, Fisherstown Ballybrittas, for the running of the 100km cycle challenge, others events include a 50km cycle and a short run for families and individuals, high nellies also welcome. Start and finish at Fishermans Inn, further info phone 0872654001.
