Involvement in the Student Enterprise Awards has grown tremendously this year in Portlaoise College.

Students in the school set out at the beginning of the year to formulate innovative business ideas that could be transformed into up and running companies.

The students have worked extremely hard over the last few months to get these companies going and recently showed their ideas off at the Portlaoise College Enterprise Final.

Under the scrutiny of the school’s judges, the students had to demonstrate the feasibility of their ideas using their communication and media skills.

After several hours of judging, many of the groups were successful in winning awards and will now go on to represent the school at the county finals which will take place in the new year.

Winners included; Naoise Toland (Junior Category) Rebecca Conroy, Leah Sheridan (Intermediate Category) Dylan Gowing, Jenny Whelan and Lauma Stals (Senior Category).

The school extended its congratulations to all of the students involved on their excellent work and great ideas and wished best of luck to all the groups who will be competing in the county finals very soon.
