Borris-Kilcotton at their ease in facile victory

Borris-in-Ossory/Kilcotton guaranteed themselves a place in the knockout stages of the Sparrow Insurance senior hurling championship with a facile victory over a disappointing Ballyfin side at O’Moore Park on Sunday evening, as a commanding all round display gave them an 18 point winning margin in a one sided contest.

Laois Senior Hurling Championship

Borris-Kilcotton 2-22

Ballyfin 0-10

Ballyfin had almost caused a shock when they could, and probably should, have beaten Camross in the opening round, but they left that form way behind them here. They were never any match for a Borris-Kilcotton side that were far removed from a side fighting to stay clear of the relegation zone.

Borris-Kilcotton had just too much firepower with players like PJ Scully, Neil Foyle, Martin Coss, Colm Delaney and Paddy Whelan in attack, while they could also pick off long range points from midfield and defence in this very competent display that puts them back on track to compete in the business end of the championship.

They ammassed a 2-8 to 0-6 half time lead and didn’t ease off in the second half as they cruised to victory.
