Clough Ballacolla completed a league and championship double in emphatic fashion at O’Moore Park on Sunday evening as they brushed aside the challenge of Ballinakill.

ACHL Division 1 Final

Clough Ballacolla 2-21

Ballinakill 2-12

They were in no way flattered by their final nine points winning margin as they had just too much firepower up front and were more than comfortable winners as they collected their first silverware of the season.

With the twin attacking force of Stephen Maher and Willie Hyland, they were far superior to a Ballinakill side that possessed only Seamus Dwyer as an attacking threat. ‘Picky’ Maher was in scintillating form hitting an amazing eight point total from play with Willie Hyland landing nine points with seven of them from placed balls. On the other side Seamus Dwyer gave an exhibition from centre forward with his six points total all impressive points from play.

With so many points from play you would expect this to have been an exciting game of hurling but alas apart from the opening quarter when Ballinakill led, once Clough Ballacolla hit the front there was really only one team in it and the second half saw them canter to victory in a one sided encounter with the challenge from O’Dwyer’s side falling away completely.
