THERE was high drama in a three finals played in O’Moore Park on Sunday with each of the results decided by scores in injury-time.

Timahoe staged a dramatic late comeback to snatch a draw in this entertaining Laois JHC ‘A’ final in O’Moore Park on Sunday morning.

They hit seven unanswered points in the final fifteen minutes of the game to secure a dramatic draw, having looked well and truly beaten after MJ Lalor’s had pointed Ballypickas into a commanding position. It eventually came down to Timahoe midfielder Padraig Kelly, as he scored two superb points in the closing minutes to send the game to a replay. The replay takes place on Thursday evening.

Borris Kilcotton were the only winners on Sunday in the most dramatic of finishes thanks to super sub Chris Jones’ goal deep into stoppage time in the Intermediate decider. They seemed to have run of steam and Colt looked set for an instant return to the Senior ranks until Jones pounced on an uncharacteristic error from Colt keeper Brian McDermott to snatch a stunning late win.

The Senior Final will be replayed next Saturday after another dramatic finish. Rathdowney-Errill lead by five points and Clough-Ballacolla looked totally devoid of all ideas late in the game.

But then things changed dramatically. Stephen Maher fired over two long range frees and a 65. Then Willie Dunphy showed Alan Delaney a clean pair of heels for the second time in the half and fired home his second goal. Now Clough-Ballacolla lead by one and Rathdowney-Errill looked to be heading for the most unlikely of defeats with time running out.

However it was left to Rathdowney Errill’s Ross King, the standout forward on display, to send it to a replay with a sublime score from the right wing.
