Castlecuffe 5-3

Arles 2-10

Castlecuffe had started strongly as well, with Chloe Delaney hitting the back of the net with a goal after just three minutes. The excellent Megan Morrissey hit back with a goal of her own for Arles, and the same player then slotted the ball over the bar for a point.

A goal from Rebecca Malone soon put Castlecuffe back in the driving seat though, and points were scored for for Arles in response by Megan Morrissey and Aoie Gallagher. That left them in a good position, but Castlecuffer were goal-hungry on the day, and Rachel Dooley did Lionel Messi proud when her soccer-style finish found the back of the net to put Castlecuffe 3-2 to 1-5 up at the break.

The second half started with the girls in green and red scoring another goal and point through Kathleen Burke to open up a commanding seven point lead.

That seven point gap wasn’t too much concern to Arles though, and lead by a second goal from Megan Morrissey and points from Elizabeth Rogers, Aoife Gallagher and Kate Fenlon meath that Arles now lead by one point going into injury time.

There was heartbreak in the end though, as Rachel Dooley struke late on to win it for Castlecuffe.
