Emo claim win after cracker

Emo claimed the Roinn 1 Girls title last Thursday after one of the most exciting games over the two days in O’Moore Park last week.

The Heath had gotten the better start, with Elaine Daly firing over a nice point within second of the throw in. Her shot for a goal soon after managed to find the back of the net moments later as The Heath took control of the game, and Erone Fitzpatrick added a goal and a point in quick succession to send them eight clear.

Fitzpatrick then added her second point before Chloe Langford scored her first goal of the day, and Emo staged a great comeback late in the half. A second goal from Emma Lawlor saw them get back on level terms at the break, 2-3 apiece the score.

Aoife Daly put The Heath back in front with a point, before Emma Lawlor and Erone Fitzpatrick traded goals in a little over a minute of play. Emo then tried to pull clear when another goal from Chloe Langford and points from here and Emma Lawlor left them five up heading into the last few minutes.

The Heath had some life left in them though, and Erone Fitzpatrick’s third goal gave them renewed vigour in the last few minutes. They laid siege to the Emo goal to find a winner, but superb defending by the ladies in red and white thwarted their efforts and Emo held on.
