Emo have carried their flying form into the Leinster Championship with an impressive performance on the home soil of O’Moore Park to overcome Wexford champions, Starlights, by three points to continue their search for silverware in the competition.

Emo 1-16

Starlights (Wexford) 2-10

Having played their county final almost three weeks previously, as opposed to Emo’s seven day gap, Starlights showed no signs of rustiness as they opened the scoring after two minutes.

However Emo grew in confidence as the half progressed and they held a three point cushion with twelve minutes remaining in the half.

They held that lead to the break and extended it after the break with a goal from Conor Lawlor to move seven ahead.

Starlights kept chipping away and a quick-fire 1-2 in five minutes put the game back in the balance.

Emo however held out to finish strongly to seal the victory with points from Evan Costello and Darren Strong to book their place in the next round of the Leinster Championship.
