Four Laois men will don Leinster colours this weekend as they take part in the M Donnelly interprovincial series.

In football, Brendan Quigley and Portlaoise duo Cahir Healy and Kieran Lillis have been included in Sean Boylan’s squad, and they will take on Munster in Parnell Park this Sunday afternoon 2pm.

In hurling, Willie Hyland is the sole Laois representative in Joe Dooley’s squad, which contains thirteen Kilkenny players, as he is rewarded for his impressive early season form.

Like the football, the hurling semi-final takes place this weekend, with an enticing clash against Munster down for Nowlan Park at 2pm this Sunday afternoon.

In local GAA news, the 2012 club season gets up and running this weekend with the first game in the Kelly Cup, as local rivals Annanough and Courtwood meet on Sunday afternoon in Vicarstown at 2pm.

The winners will meet Kilcavan the following weekend, with most of the other football teams in the county getting their seasons underway on February 26.

Finally, Laois will have three participants in this weekend’s Ashbourne Cup. Sarah Anne Fitzgerald (Camross) and Maggie Hogan (St Brigid’s) will be lining out for Waterford IT, while Michelle Fitzpatrick (O’Moore’s) is representing Athlone IT.
