After a relatively even opening thirty minutes, Stradbally’s stellar second half performance under lights in O’Moore Park proved more than enough to shrug off the challenge of Crettyard to progress to the next round of the championship, and with all of nineteen points to spare.

Laois Senior Football Championship

Stradbally 3-18

Crettyard 1-5

Had the scoreboard been operational in O’Moore Park on Friday evening, it would have registered the first score to Crettyard after just two minutes with Patrick O’Reilly raising the white flag the first time of asking. Evan O’Carroll increased the Crettyard lead to two points with five minutes on the clock as Stradbally struggled to match the tempo early on.

However by the break Stradbally were four ahead and within seven minutes of the restart, Colm Kelly had single-handedly hit them for 1-2.

Stradbally continued their scoring spree and notched up another five points, three of which came from Kelly. Stradbally dug further and added 1-6 in the final twelve minutes, with Colm Kelly bringing his personal tally to 1-10, to round off a comfortable win.
