Killeshin land deserved win

Killeshin girls proved too strong for a brave St Fiacc’s side in the girls Roinn 3 final on Wednesday last.

The were slow to start but once they got going they were just too strong for St Fiacc’s, who battled all the way to final whistle. There were lots of impressive displays on the day but Killeshin goalkeeper Katelyn O’Regan caught the eye with some brilliant saves to keep a clean sheet.

Blessing Kinglsey opened the scoring for St Fiacc’s with a nice, curling point after six minutes, and Killeshin would not get their first score until the ninth minute, with Ciara McDonald pointing.

McDonald was back on the scoring trail again moments later, blasting home a goal, with Leah Dowling adding another point soon after. Blessing Kingsley again scored for St Fiacc’s but Ciara McDonald got a second goal and Hannah Deering slotted over a free to leave Killeshin 2-3 to 0-2 up at half time.

They just kept pulling further ahead in the second half, giving an exhibition in point scoring, with Hannah Deering and Leah Dowling adding to their ever-rising tally.

Caoimhe Fitzpatrick scored a well-deserved point for St Fiacc’s before they were denied a goal by a an excellent save from Katelyn O’Regan. The points kept coming for Killeshin and they ran out worthy winners.
