Lanigan leads The Harps rout of Camross

The Harps rediscovered their best form from 2011 to hand Camross a lesson in hurling, with only two injury time goals putting some respectability on the scoreboard as they cruised to a semi-final meeting against Rathdowney-Errill with a highly impressive display at O’Moore Park on Sunday evening.
The Harps had many stars on the day, with John Brophy back to his best and hitting five splendid points from play, while their defende was also superb.
However, any man that scores 12 points from as many chances deserves the accolade as Mick Lanigan made the biggest impression on this game. Lanigan was in superb shooting form with his accuracy from all angles and distances a joy to watch as he gave an absolute exhibition from placed balls and added a few fine scores from play as well.
Talking Point
That has to be the demise of Camross in recent years, culminating in this trimming from The Harps. They have been ravaged by emigration but from the powerful teams that they turned out for decades they are now only a pale shadow, and without leaders they will struggle going forward.
The Harps, on the other hand, have come back from a humiliating semi-final defeat last year and are poised again for a final place but will have to improve even further to make the cut, as much greater challenges than this will lie ahead if they are to make the next step and claim a county title.
What Now?
The Harps face Rathdowney Errill in the semi final in what promises to be a superb contest.
