Laois reach All Ireland quarter-final with win over Meath
Laois continued their fine run through the qualifiers with a three point win over Meath in Tullamore on Saturday afternoon.
All Ireland SFC Qualifiers Rd 4
Laois 1-15
Meath 1-12
Laois lead throughout the game and went to the break with a 1-9 to 0-5 lead thanks to a penalty from Ross Munnelly late in the half.
Laois played with the wind in the first half but they were resolute in the second-half despite some heavy showers that swept through O’Connor Park.
They maintained their lead for much of the half thanks to some fine work from the defenders but they were given a nervous last four minutes after a goal from Peader Byrne got Meath back within three.
However Laois were very professional at the back and they kept Meath from creating another goal chance as they held on for a memorable win to get them into the last eight in the All Ireland series.
