This hard fought battle was the type of game that left neutral supporters never wanting to hear the final whistle, as Portlaoise claimed a dramatic late one point win.
ACHL Division 1
Portlaoise 2-13
Borris-Kilcotton 1-15
Into injury time Borris-Kilcotton lead by a single point. With the game in the balance, up stepped youngster Cian Taylor, who gathered a breaking ball and charged through the Borris-Kilcotton defence only to be fouled which, led to Noel Costello holding his nerve to convert a free and levelling the match.
A draw seemed to be the final result, but in the third minute of added time, Cahir Healy surged down the left wing and placed a long distance shot between the posts giving Portlaoise the point that would see them to victory.
