Mullaney scores for Laois Special Olympics

Laois hurler Patrick Mullaney secured two return flights to Australia for local charity, Special Olympics, Laois branch at a special Poc Fada hosted at Croke Park by Etihad Airways.

He took part in the Poc Fada with 13 other championship players to mark the launch of the Etihad Skyline tourist attraction at Croke Park.

Each hurler was tasked with aiming the sliotar at destinations on a giant map of the Etihad network that was rolled out across the Croke Park pitch.

Local charities, nominated beforehand by each player, then received a pair of return flight tickets to the destination that the sliotar landed on.

Hurlers from 14 counties took part with five winning flights to Abu Dhabi, three winning flights to China, three including Mullaney, winning flights to Australia with one set of flights each won for Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.
