A late point from corner-back Ciaran O’Brien settled this absorbing, and at times controversial, JFC round one tie in Stradbally on Sunday morning.

Junior Hurling Championship

The Heath 0-7

Stradbally 1-3

The Heath got the victory they ultimately deserved, having dominated possession and held Stradbally scoreless for the entire second half, but they laboured to the win. They struggled to break through some resolute defending by the home side, and for long spells looked like they would leave with nothing, in spite of their domination of the ball.

Stradbally lead 1-3 to 0-4 at the break and while The Heath had the wind in the second half, they again struggled to find scores ans the sides were level going into injury-time.

However The Heath got the winning score, as corner-back Ciaran O’Brien made his way up the field, got possession in the right corner and managed to squeeze through a dramatic winner to see The Heath home by the minimum.
