O’Dempsey clubman Paddy Hyland captained Seoul Gaels senior footballers to victory in the North Asian Gaelic Games, (NAGGS), which were held in South Korea recently.
The games are a major event in the Asian GAA calender attracting teams from all over the region, ladies and men, football and hurling. It was the first time in three years the event was held with the Seoul team defeating Laochra Busan in the final.
Also representing The Gaels, who completed a Men’s and Ladies Football double on home soil , were fellow Laois natives, Siobhan Culliton from Killenard and David Dunne from Mountmellick.
As well as the large Irish contingent in the teams, there were a large number of South Koreans on the Seoul Gaels team.
In fact the teams for the mini games held during the event were made up entirely of South Korean children.
