Port hammer Killeshin to move clear

Portarlington’s free-scoring attack unleashed a torrent of scores on their latest victims over the weekend, as they hammered Killeshin by 21 points on Saturday.

Both teams came into the game with four wins from four matches, but Portarlington made light of that with a blistering display, as three first half goals have them ten points up at half time, 3-3 to 0-2.
An early goal from Stephen O’Neill and a Cathal Ryan penalty had Port flying from the outset, and Killeshin could offer no response to the hosts. Portarlington just kept pulling away in the second half, and another goal from Kevin mcGrath rounded off what was a hugely impressive win, 4-13 to 0-4.
Portarlington are certainly the form side in the Division at the moment, with this win taking them two points clear at the top of the table, and they are currently averaging a little over 22 points per game.
Annanough picked up their third win in three games with a comprehensive 4-12 to 1-10 win over GRaiguecullen’s seocnd string.
Despite enjoying wind advantage in the first half, Annanough weren’t using it for their benefit for most of the opening 30 minutes, and they only took a controlling lead when James Miller goaled off of a rebound from his own penalty.
That score came just before half time, and when Annanough hit two quick-fire goals early in the second half through Cyril Darcy and Ciaran Hennessy, it all but killed off Graiguecullen’s chances, with Donal Miller’s late strike putting the icing on the cake.
Annanough’s near neoghbours Courtwood finally clicked into gear with their first win, a 1-9 to 2-2 victory over Ballyfin, in Courtwood.
Full forward Colm Wilson kicked 0-7, four of which came from play and Anton Ryan had the Courtwood goal from a penalty in the first half. 1-6 to 1-1 was the half time score and Courtwood maintained their lead for the rest of the game to claim a much needed win.
In the other games played in Division 2, Ballyroan-Abbey had four points to spare over The Heath last Tuesday night, 3-10 to 2-9, while Portlaoise enjoyed the same margin of victory over Clonaslee St Manman’s.
