Portlaoise and Arles KIlcruise through to Laois Senior Football Final

Portlaoise and Arles Kilcruise will meet in a repeat of the finals of 2009 and 2010 after both sides made it through their respective semi-finals last weekend

Laois Senior Football Championship semi-finals

.

Portlaoise are going for six in a row this year and after a couple of under par performances early in the championship, they hit form on Sunday with a 2-17 to 0-4 win over St Joseph’s.

Portlaoise lead 0-3 to 0-1 after a steady opening however by the time St Joseph’s scored again, Portlaoise had 2-14 on the board as they hammered home their superiority and laid down a strong marker ahead of the county final.

The first of the semi-finals was a far closer affair but it was Arles Kilcruise who prevailed with four points to spare. The sides were level at 0-2 apiece early in the game but Kilcruise kicked three unanswered points to move 0-5 to 0-2 clear. For the remainder of the game they maintained that cushion as O’Dempsey’s, try as they might, could not close the gap.

See this week’s Leinster Express for full reports on both games.
