Rosenallis comfortably moved past the challenge of Rathdowney-Errill with a nine point victory in Shanahoe on Thursday evening to secure their Senior ‘B’ status.
Laois SHC ‘B’ Relegation Playoff
Rathdowney-Errill commenced the scoring after just three minutes as Shane Madden split the posts to raise the white flag and se the ball rolling. Rosenallis settled into the game and opened their account shortly after through Joe Dooley, before Dooley doubled his tally a minute later.
Rosenallis continued to dictate the play as they went on to notch a further four points through Paddy Keating, Ronan Murray, John Lennon and Brian Fitzpatrick, meaning they’d chalked up six successive points, as they took full advantage of the wind behind their backs.
With twelve minutes remaining in the half, Rathdowney hit back in typical fashion with the opening goal of the day to break their fifteen minute scoring drought. When Stephen Kelly in the Rosenallis goals did well to turn Shane Madden’s blistering shot, Ray Bowe was at hand to slot home the rebound to keep Rathdowney in touch.
Rosenallis replied in typical fashion with a goal of their own from the resulting puck-out, with Paddy Keating supplying the finish as Rosenallis erased Bowe’s goal. Paddy Keating followed up his goal with a point a minute later, followed by points from Joe Keating and John Lennon as Rosenallis led by seven points at the interval.
The opening ten minutes of the half provided plenty of action as Rosenallis outscored Rathdowney by five points to two, with Brian Fitzpatrick (3), Dooley and Paddy Keating lifting Rosenallis while Eoin Bourke and Mark Dunne cut the deficit to ten points.
Rosenallis were cruising at this point and never really looked like slipping up as they went on to ensure their survival.
