The Harps seek five in a row

The Harps will look to make history this weekend as they welcome Kilkenny side Lisdowney to Durrow, with a fifth Leinster title in five years firmly in their sights.

While victory here would make it five Leinster championships on the trot, this one would be a little bit sweeter than the rest as they have been competing in the Intermediate championship this year, having been promoted from the Junior championship they dominated in recent times.

In their semi-final, they overcame a sold Drumcullen side which featured three All-Ireland Intermediate medal winners, and the lessons learned in that game will be needed when they come up against Lisdowney on Sunday.

The Kilkenny side are more than familiar with the quality at The Harps' disposal, as both clubs have frequently met in practice matches in recent years. With little to chose between the teams on those occasions, it will be interesting to see which side can come out on top when the pressure of a Leinster final is placed on both sets of players.

The Mahony sisters continue to chip in with plenty of scores, with Elaine top-scoring against Drumcullen with an impressive return of 1-3, while Louise remains as accurate as ever from placed balls. While the attack has impressed, it was the performance of their defence in the closing stages of the Drumcullen victory which sealed their place in the final. Lead by Caitrona Phelan, they held firm under late Drumcullen pressure to secure a six point win.

Lisdowney, complete with a number of the Kilkenny camogie side, will be another step up again, but if this Harps side have proved anything over the last few years, it's that they are excellent in a close game, and have all the experience they need at this level. With those factors in their favour, they will be hard team to stop this weekend.
