Arles Kilcruise were the most impressive side over the weekend dispatching a Graiguecullen side who had defeated them earlier in the campaign. By half-time Kilcruise were 1-10 to 0-1 ahead after a stunning 30 minutes of football to which their opponents simply had no answer. They defended their lead in the second-half and never gave Graiguecullen any chance of getting back into the game.

After 13 minutes of the quarter-final between Stradbally and Portlaoise it seemed as if an upset was on the cards as Stradbally held a 1-4 to 0-0 lead over the five times defending champions. However Portlaoise found their form and with the assistance of three timely goals, they overhauled a Stradbally side they restricted to just another two points.

St Joseph’s and Portarlington were evenly matched in their quarter-final with the lead changing hands a number of times but in the end it was St Joseph’s who prevailed by three points thanks to some well taken late points.

Timahoe and O’Dempsey’s played out an entertaining draw on Saturday night but it was the Timahoe men who went home happier with the result as a point with the last kick of the game from Sean Ramsbottom earned them a reprieve. O’Dempsey’s missed a number of chances to put the game away and they will be hoping their chance hasn’t gone when they line up for the replay on Wednesday evening.

Meanwhile The Heath survived in the top flight thanks to their win over Clonaslee in the Relegation Play Off .
