Cycling Classic for Portlaoise

Laois Cycling & Touring Club are organising one of the first sportives of the 2013 cycling season. The inaugural Portlaoise Winter Classic will be held on Sunday, February 10.

Cathaorleach Paul Mitchell will start the event from the Portlaoise Rugby club at 10a.m.
The 100km route has been designed to be challenging but achievable and a good test for anyone with winter miles in their legs. There will also be a shorter, flatter 45km option. There will be a halfway stop in Ballyragget and a hot meal at the finish point.

Entry is €25 on the day for Cycling Ireland licence holders, with one-day leisure licences available for €5. Online registration is available until February 5, and there will be a discount of €5 for anyone who registers and pays online. Both events start at 10am from Portlaoise Rugby Club with registration open from 8.30am to 9.45am.

Laois CTC is a well-established cycling club based around Portlaoise and Portarlington with a strong racing section and a more relaxed leisure cycling group. Our growing leisure group meet for local weekend spins and sportives across the country.

We are always looking for new members, whether you want to race or just join a friendly group for a weekend spin. We are a member of Cycling Ireland and welcome cyclists of all abilities and experience.

For details on how to join, please email us on ctc@laoiscycling.com
