Dual international coaches Laois cricketers
Kenny Carroll, Irish Cricket and Hockey International was the guest coach at Laois Cricket Club last Sunday.
Kenny, who was part of the famous cricket World Cup squad that beat Pakistan, gave a three hour advanced coaching session to a group of talented young Laois players in Vicarstown Hall.
He put them through fitness and fielding routines before concentrating on cricketing skills and put in place a training routine for them to follow over the next four weeks. Kenny, who is off to India next week to play hockey with Ireland, will be coming back to Laois next month to gauge the progress of the players and to introduce a more advanced training schedule leading up to the start of the season in April.
Many of the players attending will be fighting for places on the Laois 1st and 2nd teams and the group included Omar Rashool, a Leinster U-15 squad member and David Murphy, Leinster and Ireland U-17 squad.
Laois coaches Usama Raees and Tom Morris were also in attendance to put Kenny’s routines into practice over the coming weeks.
