Eight gold haul for Portarlington starlet Nicole

PORTARLINGTON athlete Nicole Turner recently returned from the Nationals Dwarf Games in the UK with an amazing haul of nine medals, eight of them gold, won in a variety of disciplines.

Nicole was one of the stars of the show in Birmingham winning four gold medals for swimming, three gold and one silver in track and field and one gold for cycling.

There were seven athletes from Ireland who participated in the games and they returned with 30 medals in total, 19 gold, 10 silver and 1 bronze.

It was a fantastic weekend and Nicole and her team-mates hope to return to Birmingham next year with even more athletes from Ireland and hopefully win more medals.

Next year with be a very exciting year for Nicole and the other Little People competitors because the World Dwarf Games 2013 will be held in Michigan in the USA. Fundraising events will be held between now and then to help send a team over to the USA.
