Laois Rallysport Club are wrapping up the final loose ends for the Heartlands Rally 2012 before the big weekend of June 9 and 10, when some of the top drivers in Ireland will descend on Laois for the event.

The weekend will be hectic when the rally cars, from every corner of the country will roll into Portlaoise town from Friday night, or when they go out to recce the stages on Saturday morning and come back in the afternoon to the county hall for scrutineering.

There will be a ceromonial start to the rally on Saturday evening outside our headquarters, O’Loughlins Hotel at 7.30pm (a great nights entertainment guaranteed). Sunday morning they leave county hall to take on two very demanding tarmac stages.

One around the Mountmellick area and one around the Mountrath/Abbeyleix area. Each one is 20km long and is run three times during the day, with service in between in the County Hall. These stages test the cars and the drivers to the limit.

The Rally is a counting round of the Midlands East Rally Championship and the club is delighted to have Laois County Council and O’Loughlins Hotel on board as main sponsors. Laois Hire have also been very generous in their support.

The organising of such an event is a mammoth task and the club welcome new members all the times, young and old, male or female and what other way would you enjoy a day out but to be stuck in the middle fo the action.

You can follow Laois Rallysport Club on Facebook or go to the club website laois rallysport club. You can contact Chief Marshall Clodagh Holohan at 086 1728203 or Sean McEvoy on 086 2573500 and they will answer any queries you might have.
