All-Ireland Cross Country silver medallist Michael Mulhare has launched the latest staging of the Great Heath 10k, which will take place on January 20 next year.

Mulhare was on hand to lend his support to the local run, which has proved to be a hit with both local and national runners in its short time in existence.

The race has quickly established itself as one of the top 10k races in the county. Last year, over 450 runners took the course, which winds its way through countryside in Shaen, Derrygarron and Ballydavis, with plenty of positive feedback coming from those in attendance.

The same route will be in operation again this year, and for those who would like take part, entry is available online at www.runireland.com/events/great-heath-10k.

There will be prizes for the top three finishers in the mens and ladies categories, with the winners receiving €250 and a TrionZ wristband.

Entry fees are €26, which includes an official race t-shirt, or €19 without the shirt. Entries will be taken on the day, but priority for t-shirts will be given to on-line entrants, with remaining t-shirts going to those who enter on the morning of the race.

All runners will be chip-timed also, with your official time texted to your phone after the race. There will be sports masseurs present on the day as well to provide free pre- and post-race massages.
