The Carers Associations 10K Laois Mini Marathon 2012 will take place on Sunday, September 9 from the Maldron Hotel at 12 noon and the proceeds from the registration fee of €15 will go to the Carers Association while all charities, clubs or organisations in Laois are afforded the opportunity to raise funds.

The event is time chipped and is an ideal practice-run for all athletes who are taking part in the Dublin City Marathon which will be held the following month. There are fantastic prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places for Overall, Ladies and Wheelchair categories and each successful participant will receive a medal.

Annette McCaul, Fundraising Manager for the Carers Association, said that in this present economic climate with government cuts it’s increasingly more difficult for charities or community groups to sustain services and she would like to encourage all who can to adopt a charity this year to raise funds for.

The event is suitable for everyone of all ages and abilities and is a fantastic day out for all the family. Annette thanked the Maldron Hotel who host the event, Colgan Sports for sponsoring the prizes, the Leinster Express in particular the Sports Section for promoting the event, Laois County Council, Laois Sports Partnership, Portlaoise Gardai, Red Cross and all the volunteers who make this event such a success.

You can register here or on-line at www.carersireland.com or www.runireland.com. If you would like to raise funds for your adopted charity please make contact with them to receive a sponsorship card alternatively you could select from one of the local organisations below:
