Big win for Portlaoise

It was a lovely October morning in Portarlington on Saturday when Portarlington & Portlaosie U-13’s met in the North Midlands Rugby League.

Portlaoise meant business from kick off and quickly got their first try through Cormac Rigney. Portlaoise added a second try almost instantly through Daniel O’Rourke and PJ Daly added a third within minutes.

It was all one way traffic thereafter with Portlaoise running in eight further tries before the end with tries coming from David Maher, Evan Browne, Luke Rigney and Scott Meaney. This made 11 tries in total.

Portarlington had plenty of players who showed great heart and determination but unfortunately Portlaoise’s strong forwards and quick backs were too much for Portarlington to handle. Portlaoise finished comfortable winners at 65-0. This was Portlaoise’s third consecutive win in the league and will next face Newbridge at home on Saturday.

Portlaoise Team: David Maher (1 try), James Phelan, Scot Meaney (1 try), Jimmy Tyrrell, Jack Kennedy, Shane Buggy, Dan O’Rourke (1 try), Luke Rigney (4 tries), Michael Dowling, Evan Browne (2 tries & 2 conversions), Cormac Rigney (1 try), Craig Adams, Dean Brophy, PJ Daly (1 try & 3 conversions), William Seale. Replacements: Conor Dwyer, Dylan Kavanagh, Dan Cremin, Buddy Adlam, Stephen Hunt, David Donoghue, Conor Handcock, Luke Kerr, Michael Nerney, Ben Lynam
