Laois’ Alison Miller is backing a global campaign for girls’ education fronted by Development Charity Plan Ireland.

Alison and her Triple Crown winning team mates are supporting Plan Ireland’s “Raise your Hand” campaign which is striving to make girls’ education an international priority.

Plan is attempting to collect 4 million actions (photos of hands raised, likes on our Facebook campaign page), and present them to the United Nations Secretary General and the world donor community to urge them to make girls’ education a top priority.

Plan Ireland CEO David Dalton, said, “The women’s rugby team have faced big challenges this season in their victories against France, England and Scotland. However, it’s worth remembering that there are millions of women and girls throughout the world who face adversity everyday as they strive to gain access to an education.

“Our campaign aims help transform the lives of women and girls throughout the world by advancing their rights to a sustainable education.”
