Portlaoise rugby player Alison Miller was the star of the show for the Irish team at the Emirates Dubai Women’s Rugby Sevens tournament last week.
The talented winger scored six tries in total during the tournament as Ireland claimed an 11th place finish defeating Tunisia 17-0 in their final game.
Miller was outstanding in the final scoring a hat-trick of tries as Ireland finished on a high note.
Ireland were in Group A alongside New Zealand, Fiji and the USA. Ireland opened with a 12-12 draw with the USA before suffering a 29-0 defeat to a powerful New Zealand side. They rounded off the group with a loss to Fiji.
That put them in the Bowl where they lost out by 38-10 to France with Alison Miller scoring Ireland’s two tries.
Ireland’s attentions now turn to defending their Six Nations crown after they won the Grand Slam last year while on the Sevens front, the second and third legs of the IRB Women’s Sevens World Series take place in February in Atlanta and Sao Paulo.
