Portlaoise RFC star Eimear Corri has been selected to play for Ireland in the 2014 Sainsbury’s Schools Games taking place in Manchester in September.

The Scoil Chriost Ri student is part of a team of 12 players selected after an intensive two-day training session at DCU Sports ground in Glasnevin following an initial screening of over 100 players across the country

The event will take place at the University of Manchester. Eimear hopes to follow in the footsteps of fellow Portlaoise rugby player Alison Miller with whom she shares a few thing in common including speed and balance gained through athletics and ballet dancing prior to taking up rugby.

She is thankful to her current coaches at Portlaoise RFC, Mark Roberts and Pat Hooban and her first coaches Yvonne Delaney and Caroline Connell. Youth Coordinator Harry Nichols, Tania Rosser, Pat Critchley and Blackrock Women’s Rugby Sevens have provided tremendous inspiration and practical help.
