Vital win for Portlaoise
Portlaoise played Boyne in the Leinster Premier League. Portlaoise played Boyne in the first round and had a comfortable win.
Portlaoise had to win this match to stay in the Premier League with the possibility of qualifying for a place in the last four. Boyne were a much different team to the side that played in the 1st round. They were well drilled and very disciplined.
Portlaoise played well and dominated the game but found it hard to break through and put points on the board.
They eventually were rewarded for their efforts with a try from Evan Hunt which Conor Kelly converted. Conor was successful with a penalty soon after. Boyne kept the pressure on and got a try which they failed to convert as Portlaoise held on for a vital win.
