In a pulsating cup final, Edenderry Town came from behind twice in the second half to force extra-time and penalties and it was the Offaly men who held their nerve to clinch the win over Abbeyleix in Saturday afternoon’s cup final at Leah Victoria Park in Tullamore.
CCFL U-19 CUP FINAL
Edenderry Town 3
Abbeyleix Athletic 3
(After Extra Time - Edenderry win 5-3 on penalties)
Both sides had chances to win it in regulation time and before the end of extra-time but it eventually went to a shoot-out.
The first eight penalties were scored until that one and only crucial miss from Athletic’s Daniel Mills. His unfortunate miss set the scene for Mark Nolan to win the cup for Edenderry and he made no mistake to hand Town the win.
