A fine second half scoring display saw Laois ease to a comfortable eight point semi-final victory over the students from DIT at McCann Park, Portarlington on Sunday, as Justin McNulty continued to experiment ahead of the start of the national football league in February.

Laois 0-15

DIT 0-7

After a dreadful first half, in which the sides were on level terms at just 0-4 each at the break, Laois started to find the target in the second period and picked off a succession of splendid points, with the visitors only managing three scores, two of which came in the dying minutes.

While they had a comfortable victory in the end, this was another poor display by a Laois team and the small but loyal attendance were far from impressed as the quality of the football on show left a lot to be desired.

With Division 1 football looming the task for McNulty and his management team is a huge one, as they strive to assemble a side that will compete in the top flight. Indeed, it is probable that many of Sundays side will not be in the plan, as while a couple of new players are making the grade, many are also ruling themselves out.
