Portlaoise continue unbeaten run in style

Portlaoise Town U-13s continued their unbeaten run in the MSL Major Division with this impressive win at Rossleighan Park on Saturday.

Conor Lacken opened the scoring after five minutes and Oran Murphy added the second five minutes later. Gallen hit back with a goal after fifteen minutes to make it 2-1. Portlaoise finished the half with goals from Fionn Scully, Oran Murphy and a og from one of the Gallen defenders to leave the score 5-1 at half time.

Portlaoise continued to impress in the second half and Oran Murphy scored early in the half to claim his hat-trick. Aaron Wright scored three quick goals in a fifteen minute spell to also claim a hat-trick. Gallen scored their second with a fine headed goal with ten minutes left. Fionn Scully and Joe Nevin finished of the scoring with a goal each to leave the final score 11-2. Sean McCormack, Jason Maher, Ciaran Rowney, Aaron Feane, Ruairi Lewis, Niall Doran Ronan McEvoy as well as the scorers were best for the town.

Portlaoise Town U-13s game in the last 32 of the SFAI National Cup against Corinthians of Cork has been fixed for Sunday 5th February with Kick Off at 2pm in Douglas, Cork.

Portlaoise Town played two friendlies during the MSL Christmas break. They travelled to Ballyroan to play Abbeyleix U-13s A team and came away with a 2-0 victory thanks to late goals from Fionn Scully. The second friendly was against SDSL Premier league side Cabinteely U-13s A which was played in Rossleighan Park. Portlaoise won 4-2 after being down 2-0 after twenty minutes.

Oran Murphy with two goals and Ross Brennan and Joe Nevin were the scorers. The team management would like to thank Abbeyleix and Cabinteely for these matches and to Cabinteely and their manager Tony Livingston for travelling from Dublin with a full strength squad for this friendly.

The management would also like to thank the Parents for organising the hot drinks and food after the match.
