Vote now for your Leinster Express/Lismard Autoworld Laois Sports Star of the Year

Our 11 Sportstars from 2008 will be primed for an election campaign starting from this week, as voting gets underway to see who will be crowned the Leinster Express/Lismard Autoworld Sportstar of the Year, allowing them to drive off in a brand new Peugeot 308.

Voting will run until Monday, January 12, giving voters just under a month to cast their vote.

Louise Mahony, who was also in the running last year, will be hoping to go one better after she came second in the vote in 2007. Donie Kingston is the only other winner from this year who was in the running last year, as we have nine new sportstars representing, basketball, hurling, gaelic football, camogie, athletics and greyhound racing.

The full list of nominees is: John Kerr (Basketball); Barry Pender (Athletics); Michael Mulhare (Athletics); Luke Doyle (Gaelic football); Seamus Graham (Greyhound racing); Mary Kirwan (Ladies football); Donie Kingston (Gaelic football); Pauric Bolton (Killeshin); Ciara O'Loughlin (Ladies football); Tommy Fitzgerald (October); Louise Mahony (Camogie)
