Jer Bergin launched his national campaign for IFA President in front of a crowd of up to 700 people in the Abbeyleix Manor Hotel, last Tuesday night.
Among the attendance were former IFA Presidents Padraig Walsh and John Dillon who endorsed Jer Bergin in introductory speeches. The crowd also included a number of representatives from local politics, local Glanbia board members and NPA Chairperson Anna May McHugh.
In his keynote address, Jer Bergin pinned his colours to the mast, outling a number of issues and policy areas he would address over a four year term. The emphasis throughout was on farm families. “We are the farm family organisation, and no one else can claim that space.”
