Ballet Ireland will be bringing a passionate new Carmen by choreographer-in-residence, Morgann Runacre-Temple to the Dunamaise Arts Centre on Tuesday November 26.
Carmen tells a timeless provocative tale of lust, beauty and destruction, played out against Bizet’s passionate score.
Ballet Ireland’s new production of this once scandalous story will see the tale of naïve soldier José and his Gypsy love told in a modern-day setting. Carmen is a character who has divided audiences for 150 years, and this production will see Morgann asking whether this intelligent, independent, manipulator and siren is in fact a monster or a martyr.
This is the fourth ballet Morgann has created for Ballet Ireland. In the last two years she has also choreographed works for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the London’s Children’s Ballet. The production will also feature John Walsh, Flamenco guitarist live on stage.
