Christopher O’Connor, 2nd year student at Portlaoise College, was one of the national finalists in this year’s Poetry Aloud competition.

1600 second-level students from around Ireland entered the public speaking competition in 2013.

Christopher made it through the regional and semi-finals to compete in the All Ireland Final in the National Library of Ireland.

He recited ‘Mornsong’, by Denis O’Driscoll and ‘Don’t Quit’, an anonymous poem.

Christopher represented his school and county with great confidence and skill.
