Christmas folk in Mountmellick

The Crooked Jacks

The Crooked Jacks

THIS Friday, December 21 will see the Balcony Theatre in Mountmellick play host to the 2012 Christmas Folk Concert. Taking the stage on that evening will be well known local acts Footstick, James O’Connor and The Crooked Jacks.

The Crooked Jacks are back just fresh from a US tour and will be a treat to all lovers of Irish folk. The Crooked Jacks play and blend some of the old favourites with their own unique style, to produce a show described as ‘second to none’.

James O’Connor is a national treasure when it comes to songwriting, after an appearance on the Late Late Show and some new material up online to see, James will enchant and entertain like very few can.

Footstick will be opening the night, and with recent tours to Canada and concerts arranged in the new year for the UK, this band have a busy year ahead for 2013. They bring harmonies and big strings to the fore and will be a delight to see on the night.

The Balcony Theatre is the perfect venue, originally it was the projector room in the old cinema in Mountmellick, but has now been turned into an amazing venue. The Balcony Theatre is intimate with only 138 seats, the sound is amazing as the venue is far wider than it is long, so everyone is close to the acts.

Tickets for the night are available from Moloney’s Gealic Bar, Mountmellick or Kavanagh’s in Portlaoise. Tickets are available on the night, on the door and doors are at 8pm, show starting at 9pm.
