More than 19,000 Irish music fans cast their votes in the Irish Festival Awards and the results are now in with Electric Picnic scooping seven of the major gongs including ‘Best Large Festival’ and ‘Best Line-up’.

“The Irish Festival Awards were set up in 2007 to honour the people behind the scenes that make every Irish Summer such an eclectic celebration of music, art and performance – and well done to Electric Picnic for stealing the show,” said awards director, Cillian Stewart.

Electric Picnic took home awards for Best Large Festival, Greenest Festival, Best Line-up, Family Festival Award, Social Responsibility Award, Best Service, and Best Toilets.

Electric Picnic 2013 saw headline slots from Fatboy Slim, Bjork and Arctic Monkeys, as well as performances from up and coming acts such as Disclosure, Kodaline, Mano Le Tough, Polica and Mount Kimbie.

Electric Picnic is now entering its 11th year and continues to prove itself as being more than just a music festival, with comedy, literary readings, political debate and quizzes.

Electric Picnic 2014 runs from Friday, August 29, to Sunday, August 31.
