Elephants in the Coldroom are Stan Manzya, guitarist and plays chan, Shannon Doody, volcalist and Jordan Murphy, guitarist, and they will be representing Laois in the IYMAS (Irish Youth Music Awards) in the Avivia Stadium in Dublin on Saturday April 12.

After the local selection night in Portlaoise Youth Cafe on March 1, Elephants in the Coldroom were selected to represent Laois out of 13 acts who competed on the night. They now go ahead to be in with a chance to have their original song recorded.

Jobs have been distributed to 23 young people to help Elephants in the Coldroom on this journey.

Elephants in the Coldroom had the great opportunity to play in Ballyfin House in September last year, and they also played support act to Jack Lukeman, known as Jack L in the Dunamaise Arts Centre in October last year. They also play at open mic nights in Portlaoise Youth Cafe and Lethean in Portlaoise. Fans can also follow them on Facebook.

On Friday March 28, an IYMAs fundraiser night will be held at Portlaoise Youth Cafe, from 7pm - 11pm.

Entry is €4, with special guest acts on the night. All support is welcome.
