Festive fun and frolics at Kavanaghs

KAVANAGHS have plenty to tickle both mucisial and funnybones over the Christmas season and the months ahead, with a jam packed line up. As well as lots of local talent performing in the pub throughout the festive season, the pub will also be playing host to other performers.

On Friday December 21 ‘The Legend of Luke Kelly’ by Chris Kavanagh and The Patriots’ will take to the stage upstairs in the pub.

Chris Kavanagh and The Patriots have been selling out venues across Ireland now for many years since they began in Dublins Hot Press HQ in 2001. Chris bears a remarkable resemblence to the late, great, Luke Kelly, both vocally and visually.

Luke, was and probably always will be the greatest folk singer to come out of Ireland and arguably the greatest folk singer of all time, anywhere. Chris and the band have recaptured that sound and brought it back to new generations. That is why the show is so successful. The band say they are the future of Irish folk music.

Described by some people as the best folk band in Ireland right now, it is no wonder they have been sought after all over the country and abroad. Tickets are priced from €10 and are available from Kavanagh’s and Ticketmaster.

On Friday December 28 Kavanagh’s Comedy Club will be hosting a Christmas special with John Lynn, Colum McDonnell and MC Mark Doheny.

John Lynn, now resides in the UK and they have been lucky enough to secure him for their Comedy Club Christmas Special! John is well known to Comedy goers and having performed at practically every club in Ireland he now performs in large venues throughout the UK every week.

Colum McDonnell returns for a much anticipated performance on the stage in Kavanagh’s. Colum performs as part of this double headliner bill and always has the audience howling for more every time.

Mark Doheny, resident MC, completes the line up, with a waist diminishing at the same rate as the nation’s savings let’s hope after a good Christmas dinner Mark will be visible on stage. Tickets are priced from €10. Doors Open at 9pm. For more information or to book tickets, visit www.kavanaghsportlaoise.com or contact the venue at 057 86 21744.
