The official launch of Laois Fleadh 2014 took place in Abbeyleix library earlier this month, ahead of next week’s festivities.
The launch featured the full range of competition trophies, which amount to almost 60 perpetual trophies - these will be on display in the library until May 30 in advance of the start of the Fleadh competitions itself.
Representatives of all of the 7 Comhaltas clubs in Laois attended - Camross, Clonaslee, Mountmellick, Portarlington, Portlaoise, Ratheniska as well as the Spink, who are the hosting club for Laois Fleadh 2014. Representatives of the Laois County Board of Comhaltas also attended, along with other members of Abbeyleix and surrounding areas.
Traditional Irish music, featuring the Harp and Fiddle was provided throughout the evening from Ciara Lynch, Lily Kettle and Naoise Kettle - all members of Spink branch.
The Laois Fleadh can be followed on FaceBook - LaoisCountyFleadh - and this has event details, photos and video highlights, and will be kept up to date throughout the Fleadh.
Tickets for the Fleadh can be bought at Scoil Mhuire at each day over the Fleadh weekend.
